Terms of Service
Last updated:
The short version
These terms are the agreement between you and MealMaestro for using the app. The full terms below say all of this more precisely, but in plain English:
- Use it for cooking, not for mischief. Don’t break the law, abuse the service, or upload things you don’t have the rights to.
- Your recipes are yours. You keep ownership of what you create or import. You give us only the permission we need to store, sync, and display it back to you — and to run the AI features you ask for.
- Premium is a subscription. Choose monthly or yearly; it renews automatically at the price shown when you subscribe, until you cancel. Cancel anytime through the App Store, Google Play, or your web account settings; payments are non-refundable except where the law or an app store requires otherwise.
- MealMaestro helps you cook — it doesn’t cook for you. Timelines and AI answers are guidance, not professional advice. You are responsible for food safety, allergens, and using your equipment safely.
- You can leave anytime. Delete your account and all your data with one action in Settings. Deletion is permanent.
- Questions? Email us at hello@mealmaestro.app.
For how we handle your data, see our Privacy Policy.
The full terms
1. Who we are and your acceptance of these terms
MealMaestro (“MealMaestro,” “we,” “us”) is a multi-recipe cooking app for iOS, Android, and the web. MealMaestro is operated by Joe Cucci. (An Ohio LLC will be formed before launch; this operating-entity name will be updated to the LLC at that time.)
By creating an account, or by using MealMaestro in any way (including without an account), you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
You can reach us at hello@mealmaestro.app.
2. Eligibility
MealMaestro is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. By using the app you confirm you are at least 13 years old. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use MealMaestro only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
3. Your account
- Account types. You can use MealMaestro anonymously, in which case your data lives in a device-bound anonymous session, or you can create an account with an email address and password to sync across devices.
- Your responsibilities. Keep your login credentials secure and don’t share your account. You’re responsible for activity that happens under your account. Provide accurate information and keep it current.
- Notify us. Tell us promptly at hello@mealmaestro.app if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
4. Acceptable use
When you use MealMaestro, you agree not to:
- use the app for anything illegal, or upload content that is unlawful, infringing, or that violates someone else’s rights;
- upload malware, or attempt to probe, disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the app, our servers, or other users’ data;
- harass, abuse, or harm others, or post content that is hateful or threatening;
- scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the app by automated means, or use the app to build a competing product;
- attempt to circumvent the free/premium boundaries, usage limits, or other technical or access restrictions; or
- resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the app except as expressly allowed.
We may remove content or suspend access that we reasonably believe violates these terms (see §11).
5. Your content
- You own your recipes. You keep all ownership rights in the recipes and other content you create or import (“your content”).
- License to operate the app. You grant MealMaestro a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, sync, display, and process your content — including processing it through our AI features (see §7) — solely to provide and improve the app for you. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for backups that age out in the ordinary course.
- You’re responsible for what you import. When you import a recipe (for example, from a URL), you confirm you have the right to use that content for your personal use. Don’t import content you’re not allowed to.
- Sharing. Some features let you mark a recipe as public. If you make content public, you’re responsible for ensuring you have the right to share it.
6. Subscriptions and billing
- Free tier. MealMaestro is free to use with some limits: unlimited single-recipe cook mode, manual recipe entry, up to 10 saved recipes on mobile (3 on web), and 3 multi-recipe cooks total as a free trial of orchestration.
- Premium. A Premium subscription unlocks unlimited multi-recipe orchestration, unlimited saved recipes, AI features, web URL import, and cross-device sync. Premium is available as a monthly or yearly subscription, billed at the price shown at the time of purchase. There is no lifetime or one-time purchase option.
- Auto-renewal. Premium subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price at the end of each term — monthly plans each month, yearly plans each year — unless you cancel before the renewal date.
- Cancellation. You can cancel anytime through the store you bought it from — for mobile purchases, in your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings; for web purchases (handled by our payment processor, Stripe), in your account settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your Premium access continues until the end of the term you’ve already paid for (the current month or year), and then ends.
- No refunds. Payments are non-refundable. We do not provide refunds or credits for unused time or partial billing periods, except where required by law. Purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play are subject to those stores’ own refund policies, which we don’t control.
- Account deletion. If you delete your account, any web (Stripe) subscription is cancelled at the end of the current billing period (no refund). App Store / Google Play subscriptions are not cancelled by deleting your account — you must cancel them in your store account settings.
- Price changes. We may change prices or what each tier includes. We’ll give notice of a price change before it applies to your next renewal, as required by the applicable app store and law.
- Taxes. Prices may not include taxes, which may be added by the store or payment processor.
7. AI features
Some features use AI (the Anthropic Claude API) to remove friction while you cook — for example, parsing a recipe from a URL, understanding a voice command, or answering a cooking question about the step you’re on.
- AI output is assistance, not authority. AI-generated parsing, answers, and timelines may be incomplete or wrong. Use your own judgment and verify anything important — especially anything affecting safety (see §8).
- What we send. For what data is and isn’t sent to our AI provider, and how it is retained, see §5 of our Privacy Policy.
8. Food safety — important
MealMaestro is a planning and guidance tool. It is not a substitute for your own food-safety judgment, and it does not provide professional, medical, nutritional, or food-safety advice.
You are solely responsible for safe cooking. In particular:
- Allergens and dietary needs. MealMaestro does not detect allergens or verify that a recipe is safe for your diet. Always check ingredients yourself.
- Cooking temperatures and doneness. Cook foods to safe internal temperatures and follow established food-safety practices. Do not rely on the app’s timers or step estimates to determine whether food is safe to eat.
- Equipment. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and safety guidance for your stove, oven, appliances, and tools.
- Estimates run long or short. Step durations and timelines are estimates and will not always match your kitchen.
If you have a food allergy or medical condition, consult a qualified professional.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
MealMaestro is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any content, timeline, or AI output will be accurate or complete. Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of these may not apply to you.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, MealMaestro and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the app — including any reliance on AI output, timelines, or food-safety outcomes. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the app will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or USD $50. Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.
11. Termination
- You can leave anytime. Stop using MealMaestro whenever you like. You can delete your account and all associated data with one action in Settings; this cascades across your recipes, cooking sessions, and related records and is permanent and irreversible (see §8 of our Privacy Policy).
- We may suspend or terminate. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms, if required by law, or to protect the app or its users. Where reasonable and lawful, we’ll give you notice.
- Survival. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including §5 (license, as it applies to retained backups), §8–§10, and §13 — continue to apply.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the app evolves. When we make a material change, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use MealMaestro after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the state and federal courts located in Ohio will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or the app, except where applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
